handing off the keys

It’s no secret owning a business is… challenging. Sometimes REAL challenging.

It’s got really high highs + also finds a way to show you the really low lows. I guess that’s the point in life, right?

After a year of pouring into a space we thought might be long - term. Life is showing us otherwise.

After a year of owning a studio space, it’s time to hand off the keys.

It feels awkward to be writing this after such a great past year. SO many amazing moments. SO many amazing events, shoots, & other random days spent with our kids covering the floor in chalk.

But here’s the thing -

The Soul Society was never meant to be JUST photography. The Soul Society is meant to be so much more, connect so many more people, offer something unique. And for whatever reason, this space wasn’t fulfilling the vision we had for it.

So, it’s time to shift gears. It’s time to pivot. + i’m learning… THAT’S OK!

man, I fight that lesson sometimes.

Right now, we have no clue what pivoting looks like for the brand. Maybe one day, another studio space! Maybe not!

Only time will tell.

But one thing is for sure.

We believe in the possibilities of this brand.

We believe in the potential it has.

We believe whole - heartedly, in this vision that has been put on our heart.

We believe in this soulful feeling.

So for now, we’re handing off the keys. But were never letting go of that feeling.
